Pedro Escárate was born in Santiago, Chile, in 1979. He received the M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in electric engineering from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (PUC), Santiago Chile, in 2005 and 2009, respectively. From 2007 to 2008 he was a Researcher in the Istituto di Struttura della Materia, Rome, Italy and from 2010 to 2012 he was Postdoctoral Researchers in the Center of Astro-Engineering (AIUC, PUC).

In 2012, Pedro joined the Electronics Engineering Department, UTFSM, as a Research Academic. His research interests include electro-optics systems, spectroscopy and astronomical instrumentation.
